Børge Mogensen Dining Chairs

Set of four Model J39 dining chairs designed by Børge Mogensen for FDB Møbler, Denmark 1947.

The J39 chair, also known as the ‘Folkestol’ was designed by Børge when he was manager of the design studio at FDB in the 1940’s. Viewed as one of the most important Danish designers, many of Børge’s iconic designs are still popular and in demand today.

The factory stamps on this set are dated 1964 and 1965. The frames are constructed from solid oak and the seats woven with Danish paper cord. This set has gone through a full restoration in our workshop. The frames have been cleaned, sanded, reoiled, all the joints were reglued and the seats have been rewoven with new paper cord. One chair had a previously damaged back leg repaired, as can be seen in the photos.

An absolutely beautiful set of chairs that will complete any mid-century interior and will stand the test of time – just as Børge intended them to.
