Portrait of Loucas Polydorou, artisan and business owner, amongst Danish mid-century furniture

Hello and welcome! My name is Loucas Polydorou, and I am the passionate artisan behind this unique and detail-oriented business.

My journey started in 2019, nestled in the cozy confines of my Antwerp apartment. Gradually, my passion led me to a small basement workshop and finally to the beautiful, rural setting of Wirtzfeld, Belgium. Now, I work in the heart of a lovingly restored farmhouse, where I house a spacious 180 square metre showroom and two dedicated 80 square metre workshops for my craft, focusing separately on woodwork and upholstery.

Every piece that enters my workshop is treated as a piece of history, a legacy of the trees it was born from and the designers who breathed life into it. I am in my workshop every day, diligently restoring the wood and handling the upholstery work myself. This hands-on approach ensures that every restored piece embodies the respect and care I believe they deserve.

Choosing only sustainable and sturdy woods—teak, beech, and oak—I avoid the use of rosewood to uphold an eco-conscious ethos. My specialisation lies in breathing new life into Danish mid-century furniture, primarily designs from 1950 to 1970. Each restoration is carried out with a deep reverence for the original intent of the designers, using period-specific products and techniques.

Detail, for me, is paramount. Even down to the hardware—screws, bolts, nuts—I ensure they are correct for the period, maintaining the authenticity of the piece. I never compromise on original elements, replacing an original flathead screw with a Philips head screw, for example, is out of the question.

Part of my commitment to authenticity involves meticulous research to discover the original finishes, like oil or soap treatments, to provide an end product as close to its original state as possible. The fabrics used for upholstery are high-quality wools, sourced directly from reputable Norwegian suppliers.

To me, a piece isn’t fully restored unless it’s in impeccable condition. I will not sell anything that I don’t believe will last another 30 years, at the very least. My goal is to make premium hand-restored products accessible at a fair price, without compromising on quality and durability.

Every piece is rigorously researched to guarantee its authenticity. I vouch for the integrity of my pieces, promising they are exactly as I represent them to be—originals, not inferior replicas. I source the furniture directly from Denmark, ensuring a legitimate lineage and design attribution.

Thank you for stopping by and embarking on this journey through time and craftsmanship with me. I look forward to offering you a piece of history, restored with love and respect.
